Kogi Elections: Yahaya Bello Replaces Audu, INEC Confirms Nomination

After Days of in-fighting and raising of dusts between the running mate of the late Abubakr Audu, James Faleke and Yahaya Bello, on who will replace Audu, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has confirmed request made by the All Progressives Congress for the nomination of Bello for the supplementary election in Kogi state.

Bello will be flying the APC flag in the December 5 rerun election after the party has settled for him as the suitable replacement for its late candidate, The Nation reports.

This confirmation was made by the INEC deputy director in charge of publicity, Nick Dazang.

There was an outbreak of violence at the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abuja on Monday. A large number of youths arrived the secretariat of the party where APC leaders are holding a meeting over the Kogi state election. They came in buses marked ‘Dekina’, a local government area in the‎ state. On sighting Yahaya Bello, who arrived at 2:48pm, they went out of control, attempting to attack him. It took the effort of security agents to smuggle Bello from their midst. After Bello was rescued, they s‎tarted hurling missiles and using big sticks to beat up one another. Security personnel have restored calm but broken windshields of cars are the scene of the chaos.

Goodluck Jonathan, the immediate past president of Nigeria, has narrowly escaped the death in Bayelsa state today, November 30.

Some suspected men accused of working for the All Progressives Congress in the state drove into Jonathan’s convey.

The militants, who stopped and drove into a short motorcade transporting the former leader of the nation from the Julius Berger bridge area of the state capital Yenagoa, trailed and chased the motorcade to the entrance of the private house of Jonathan in the Kpansia area of the town, before they were crushed and detained by a combined team of security operatives attached to the ex-president.

Abiodun Faleke, running mate to the late Abubakar Audu in the November 21 governorship election in Kogi State, has picked Mohammed, the first son of Audu, as his deputy. Faleke, who is opposed to the supplementary election which INEC has scheduled for Saturday, said the party had requested him to nominate a deputy in accordance with the constitutional provision. He told a gathering of APC members in Kogi on Monday that Audu’s death has placed a moral burden on him, saying he would fight on until “victory is accomplished”.

Televangelist TB Joshua to be prosecuted for church collapse that Killed 116 People


Prophet Temitope Balogun Joshua and other trustees of the ‎Synagogue Church of All Nations (Scoan) will be Prosecuted by the government of Nigeria for the collapse of the church building that left 116 people dead in Lagos in 2014. The controversial televangelist – known as TB Joshua – founded Scoan in 1987 after he claimed he had a vision of God asking him to build a ministry.

The church attracts thousands of worshippers every week and the building includes a guest house for visitors.

Mohammed Audu, the eldest son of the late Prince Abubakar Audu has reacted to reports making round that Yahaya Bello, the runner up in the APC primary election, has been selected as the party’s governorship candidate in the supplementary poll slated for this weekend.

Speaking at a news conference in his hometown, Ofu local government area of the state, Mohammaed said he hasn’t been informed by the All Progressives Congress (APC) of the party’s replacement following the death of his father.
