This elite class of political jobbers are quick to amass wealth at the expense of the struggling majority. But they are never known to give out scholarship to indigent students who need it, nor are they famous for setting up foundations or charity organisations to research some of the killer diseases that the vast majority of Nigerians are ravaged by.

Not even such diseases like cancer that the jet set lifestyles of this greedy Nigerians expose them to increasingly are accorded the benefit of research grants that would ultimately be for their own good if not for all. Nigeria’s class of rich outcasts would rather travel abroad to spend their stolen wealth in the enrichment of the economies of those who already have more than enough to take care of their needs.

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, will not appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, which penultimate Wednesday ordered him to report to the commission today (Thursday) or be declared wanted, Vanguard has learned.

EFCC is investigating Tompolo over alleged fraudulent sale of land to government at N13 billion and  first invited him to appear at its Lagos office, November 25, but he responded through his solicitors, saying he was already in court with the agency.

The Minister of Information and Culture, Alh. Lai Mohammed has taken a swipe on the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) over its criticism of the All Progressive Party’s (APC) led government for the poor state of the country’s economy and depreciation of naira, saying that the PDP lacks the temerity to insult President Buhari and the citizens for their failure in managing the economy in a transparent manner.

The Minister was reacting to the comments credited to Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, that businesses may collapse in the next six months because the Buhari Administration has mismanaged the economy, which he said was the clearest indication yet that the PDP and its leaders are still in denial about the massive body blows they inflicted on the Nigerian economy.

A source at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has linked former Governor Peter Odili of Rivers State and a once convicted top member of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bode George, with receiving N100 million each from the former National Security Adviser, Colonel Sambo Dasuki (ret.).

The EFCC source revealed that the largess to the two PDP officials was diverted from funds meant for the purchase of arms in order to better equip the Nigerian military in its campaign against Islamist terror group, Boko Haram.

Judge Overturns Oscar Pistorius's Verdict to Murder

Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius has been found guilty of murder after a South African appeals court overturned an earlier manslaughter verdict.

He killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in February 2013 after shooting her four times through a locked toilet door.

He is currently under house arrest after spending one year of his original five-year sentence in jail.

Pistorius will have to return to court to be re-sentenced, for murder.

It was earlier incorrectly reported that the court had ruled the manslaughter verdict would remain.

Faleke stands his grounds, tells APC, INEC not to tamper with his victory

The deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the November 21 election in Kogi State, Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, has warned his party and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) not to do anything that will compromise his mandate as the deputy governor-elect.

In two letters written through his counsel Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) to INEC and the APC yesterday, Faleke informed both parties of the court case he instituted and vowed not to betray the late Prince Abubakar Audu by surrendering their joint victory.

He told the National Chairman of the APC, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, that he was “not ready or prepared to negotiate, compromise, surrender, mortgage or part, in any way whatsoever, with the mandate already given to the said joint ticket by the electorate of Kogi State.”
